A fun game with lots of action! Don’t be put off – Craps appears complicated but players need not know every option on the table to do well.

The game

A ‘shooter’ is pivotal in the game. A shooter, normally a player in a traditional casino (and the computer software in an online casino) must roll the pair of dice to determine who wins and who loses.  Three outcomes are possible from the rolling of the dice;

·        ‘Craps’ – 2, 3 or 12

·        a ‘Natural’ – 7 or 11

·        a ‘Point’ – 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10

PASS LINE bets

Players can place their chips on the Craps table on the area marked PASS LINE. This must be done before the shooter’s first roll. If a ‘natural’ is rolled, the players who placed a PASS LINE bet win. If ‘craps’ is rolled, those players lose. If a point is rolled, the player’s bet remains. The player will win if the shooter rolls a point again before rolling a 7 but lose if a 7 is rolled before the point.

This is a 1 to 1 payout. The House edge is 1.4%

DON’T PASS LINE bets

This bet works in almost the opposite way to the PASS LINE bet (above). Players will not win however if a 12 is rolled first. In this case, the bet is pushed.

This is a 1 to 1 payout. The House edge is 1.4%

COME LINE bets

After the shooter has made their first roll and already has the point, players can bet on the COME LINE. Players will win if the point is rolled before 7. Players lose if 7 is rolled before the point.

This is a 1 to 1 payout. The House edge is 1.4%

DON’T COME LINE bets

The reverse of a COME LINE bet except if a 2 or 3 is rolled, the player wins. If a 12 is rolled, it is a stand off.

This is a 1 to 1 payout. The House edge is 1.4%

ODDS bets

Players can also bet on the odds. After a point has been thrown, if a player has a pass line bet, they may bet (usually only 2 times) a multiple of their pass line bet and put them on all the odds. Players can win if the point  is made before a 7.

This is a 2 to 1 payout for points of 10’s or 4’s. It is a 3 to 2 payout for a point of 9’s or 5’s. It is a 6 to 5 payout for a point of 8’s or 6’s.

LAYING THE ODDS bet

The opposite of the ODDS bet (ie. betting that a 7 will be rolled before a point after a point has already been rolled).

This is a 1 to 2 payout for a point of 10’s or 4’s; 2 to 3 for a point of 9’s or 5’s; 5 to 6 for a point of 8’s or 6’s. The House edge on all ODDS bets vary between 0.5 – 1% (very low).

BIG 6 or 8

Players can bet that a 6 or 8 will be rolled before the 7.

This is a 1 to 1 payout. The House edge is very high (not recommended).

PLACE bets

Players can bet that a place number (ie. 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10) will be rolled before the 7. No prior bets are required.

The House edge is lowest for place bets on 6 or 8 (1.5%). Place bets on 5 or 9 are 4.0%, and those on 4 or 10 are 6.7%.

PROPOSITION bets

Players can bet on the roll coming up.

There is a huge House edge on these bets. They are not recommended.

3 or 11 has a payout of 15 to 1, House edge of 11.1%

2 or 12 has a payout of 30 to 1, House edge of 13.9%

7 has a payout of 4 to 1, House edge of 16.7%

Any Craps has a payout of 7 to 1, House edge of 11.1%

3, 4, 9 10, 11 gets players even money, House edge of 5.5%

2 or 12 has a payout of 2 to 1, House edge of 5.5%
